On November 15, 2022, The Plansee Group completed its acquisition of Mi-Tech Tungsten Metals, LLC (MTTM), a leading manufacturer of critical components made from tungsten heavy alloys supplied to the aerospace, energy and other government & commercial markets. With consolidated sales of more than $2B, The Plansee Group is one of the world's leading powder metallurgy industrial companies, specializing in products made from molybdenum and tungsten, and covering the entire value chain – from ore concentrate to customized tools and components.
In completing the acquisition, Plansee has strengthened the supply of tungsten metal powders to MTTM and further reinforced the US industrial base for tungsten metal products together with its US affiliate, Global Tungsten & Powders Corp., in Towanda PA.
Following the acquisition, MTTM, and its highly experienced staff in Indianapolis, will continue all operations and be positioned alongside the US sales and production network of the Plansee High Performance Materials business area. In doing so, existing MTTM and Plansee customers will benefit from a broader range of products and services along with the speed and flexibility for which MTTM is well known.
